Obstetrician Fees
As a result of the Federal Government’s most recent changes to the Medicare Safety Net, the amount of obstetric fees a patient attending a private hospital is able to claim from Medicare has been capped and varies from patient to patient.
It’s important for you, as an obstetric patient, to contact your private health fund to clarify obstetrician fees covered by the health fund.
If you are not covered by Medicare or a private health fund, you will need to pay the full extent of the obstetric fee. If you are not covered by an overseas health fund, you’ll be required to pay the obstetrician fees upfront and claim a refund from the health fund. In some situations the health fund may provide a Guarantee of Payment allowing you to pay according to my schedule of fees.
Obstetrician Fees payment
We do request that your account for your initial consult be settled on the day. Your other fees throughout pregnancy are 30 day accounts. Methods of payment accepted are cash, cheque, Visa, Mastercard and Amex.
If you receive medical care or support from other specialists during your pregnancy or delivery, you may expect additional expenses on top of your Obstetrician fees.
These can include:
- Anaethestist
- Paediatrician
- Surgical Assistant
